I head up a team of Division Advisers who cover camping for Brownies, Guides, Senior Section and also girl lead permits.
My job involves organizing assessment visits, signing forms, verifying folders, issuing licences, answering queries from Advisers and Guiders and visiting camp permit test camps.
As part of the Outdoor Team I help organise and provide trainings for Guiders working towards gaining necessary residential qualifications. Training days are usually held at the County days in March and November, with a training weekend held the first weekend in June.
I also sit on the Tawbottom committee.
I have been a warranted Ranger Guider in Exeter since 1993 and have also worked with Guides. I was previously the Outdoor Residential Adviser for Exeter before taking on this role.
I joined Brownies when I was 8 years old and have stayed ever since. As a Guide I enjoyed camping and even more so when I got to Rangers and the lightweight tents.
My preferred method of contact is by e-mail but I am happy to chat on the phone or where ever you see me.
Sites are approved by the local host Adviser. To get a site approved you need to contact your home Adviser in good time so that she can arrange for an inspection of the site by the host adviser before firm plans are made.
CRB checks are done through your normal Division channels.
For a Brownie or Guide camp the minimum is 2 sixes/patrols and the maximum is 24 Brownies/Guides.
For Senior Section the minimum is 5 Senior Section Members.
To begin with you will need to print off the modules chart, syllabus and the record sheets which can be found on the Senior Section CD-rom. Depending on which permit you wish to gain you will need to complete the required modules on the chart. The overnight permit requires modules 1 to 3 and all other permits require at least modules 1 to 6. You will then need to organise and execute your event. Full details are on the Senior Section CD-rom.
